Welcome to the Temple of

Persephone

What Can be Uncovered Here?

Her story

Persephone is known as the Goddess of the Underworld—
the maiden who became the Queen.
A young, sheltered goddess who descended into the depths
and emerged as the keeper of shadows, cycles, and rebirth.

There are many tellings of her story.

Some say she was taken.
Some say she was tricked.
Some say she fell in love with Hades—
craving freedom from the grip of an overprotective mother
and choosing the underworld as the place she could finally breathe.

But here’s what I know from working with her:

Persephone is never just the victim…
and never just the innocent maiden.

She is the woman who discovers her power
in the place she least expected it.
She is the one who realizes
that what was meant to break her
was actually the doorway
to her sovereignty.

She surprised me.
And I think she will surprise you too.

Working with Persephone is an embodiment—
a return to your body, your instincts, your descent,
and the sacred truth that you can hold both light and shadow
without fragmenting.

She is the bridge between worlds,
and she walks with those who are ready
to reclaim their underworld wisdom.

Are you ready to step into the shadows with Persephone?
Let’s begin.

Setting an intention with Persephone

Before entering Persephone’s realm, take a moment to set your intention.

Open your heart to her.
Allow yourself to receive her whispers, her symbols, her guidance.
Let her show you what you are ready to see…
and hold you through what you are ready to release.

She has you.
And she is ready to lead you home to yourself.

Take some time to sit with the energies of Persephone. Let the music awaken her magic and wisdom within.

Integration + Care

Working with Persephone is not just an intellectual journey—it is an initiation of the nervous system, the body, the underworld of your own instinct. You can write, reflect, and connect the dots… but true transformation happens when the energy is allowed to move through you.

This is where devotion enters.

Integration is the moment you choose not to rush past what you’ve uncovered… but to let it reshape you. To tend to your body as you rise out of old patterns. To regulate your system as you touch the edges of deeper truths. To soften into the descent and trust the return.

In this section, you’ll find practices, meditations, and somatic rituals created to help Persephone awaken within you. Let these be your slow companions. Your grounding. Your way of remembering that the descent is meant to be felt, not just understood.

A Meditation with Persephone

The 5 Pillars

Every Dark Goddess Temple is guided by a different current of feminine power.
Here, in Persephone’s Temple, the work bends toward the underworld and the ascent — the places where you disappear, re-emerge, reclaim, and choose yourself again. These five pillars are the foundation of this space. They hold you as you descend into the shadows of your own lineage, and they steady you as you rise with new sight.

Each Temple has its own architecture, its own initiatory path. These are the pillars Persephone chose for us — the lessons she wants awakened in your bones, the thresholds she wants you to walk through. Together, they shape how you move through this work. They are your anchors. Your direction. Your devotion in motion.

Honoring the cyclic magic of descent, rebirth, and the sacred rhythms of the feminine body.

There’s a part of Persephone that most people overlook — the way her myth mirrors the inner cycles of a woman’s body. The pomegranate seed she consumed isn’t just a mythic detail; it’s an ancient symbol of the womb, fertility, blood mysteries, initiation, and the power of cyclical transformation.

I didn’t know the depth of this connection until recently — and it changed everything about how I understand Persephone, menstruation, and the feminine descent.
It makes perfect sense that she is the one who brought me the Moon Cycle Pillar.

An Alternate History…

The Forgotten Myth of Persephone

What if Persephone was never the damsel the old myths insisted she was?

What if she was not taken — but called?

What if the descent was not abduction, but initiation — a choice made by a young goddess who was ready to step beyond the limits of the life she inherited?

Persephone, picking flowers in a sunlit field, is the image we were given — innocence, purity, fragility. But what is rarely spoken is how often the greatest journeys begin exactly there: in the moment a woman feels the first spark of wanting more.

Not more harm.
Not more chaos.
But more of herself.

She loved her mother, yes. Demeter was powerful, nurturing, protective. But every daughter knows the moment when the mother’s embrace becomes too small for the woman she is becoming. Persephone felt the pull — the whisper from the depths — before the earth ever opened beneath her feet.

Her descent was not the loss of innocence.
It was the claiming of identity.

She was not dragged away — she stepped forward.
She did not become Queen because she was forced — she became Queen because she recognized the throne was already hers.

A woman who chooses the underworld chooses herself.
She chooses truth over comfort.
Sovereignty over safety.
Transformation over stagnation.

And like so many sovereign women throughout history, her story was rewritten to make her small.
To make her powerless.
To make her fall look like a kidnapping instead of a coronation.

The real threat was never Hades.
It was Persephone’s autonomy.

The Magdalene Lineage — The Path of Power, Not Just Softness

The Magdalene Lineage is often remembered through the lens of softness — compassion, devotion, tenderness. But those who walk this path know the deeper truth:

it is a lineage of power.
A lineage of women who descended into their shadows, reclaimed their bodies as holy ground, and rose carrying the wisdom of both light and dark.

This is old magic — older than temples, older than scripture, older than the names we’ve been given.

Magdalene, like Persephone, is a guide of the inner descent.
She teaches the sacred art of meeting yourself in the places you once abandoned, of understanding your cycles not as burdens but as portals, of remembering that the blood, the body, and the emotional underworld are holy.

Persephone’s story is woven directly into this lineage.
Her descent mirrors the Magdalene path of going inward, facing the shadow, and returning with deeper sovereignty. Her connection to the earth through Demeter and the ancient Mother line traces back to Asherah — goddess of land and sea, of fertility and mystery — the very origins of the Magdalene stream.

To walk this lineage is not to be delicate.
It is to be devoted.
To your truth.
To your body.
To the cycles that shape you.
To the shadows that initiate you.
To the roar and the softness.

This path asks you to remember:
You are not here to be small.
You are here to carry the full spectrum of your power — the descent, the rise, the blood, the breath, the intuition, the knowing.

This is ancient woman’s work.
This is the magic Persephone awakens in you.

The Feminine Initiation Hidden in the Myth

We call Persephone Queen of the Underworld, but she is also Queen of the body, of the cycle, of the inner seasons that shape every woman.

Her leaving Demeter did create winter — but winter is not punishment.
Winter is the time of descent, the womb, the stillness, the profound remembering.

Persephone’s journey mirrors our own inner cycle:

  • descent (menstruation / new moon)

  • reflection (follicular)

  • embodiment (ovulation / full moon)

  • release (luteal)

This is why she is the perfect guide for this Temple.
She teaches that the underworld is not doom — it is initiation.
That darkness is not danger — it is truth.
That the body is not a burden — it is a gateway.
That emotions are not weakness — they are water wisdom, the very lineage of Magdalene and Asherah flowing through the feminine.

Unlike Medusa, Persephone is not a mermaid — but she carries the ocean in her bones.
She walks the seam between earth and water, just like the First Mother.
She is the meeting place of body and emotion, light and shadow, innocence and sovereignty.

She is the girl who walked into the dark and came back a Queen.

And she invites you to do the same.

The Hidden Lineage: Asherah → Magdalene → Demeter → Persephone

There is an older thread beneath this myth, one rarely spoken but deeply felt by women who remember their bodies as holy.

Before Demeter, before the Olympians, before even the first Greek tongue — there was Asherah.

Asherah:
She who walks upon the sea.
Mother of the gods.
Goddess of harvest, fertility, nourishment, land, and water.
The first bridge between earth (the body) and sea (the emotional realm).
The primordial union of matter and mystery.

The Magdalene lineage — the lineage of embodied feminine wisdom, descent, devotion, and emotional mastery — traces back to Her. Mary Magdalene carries the water teachings, the shadow teachings, the remembrance that the descent is sacred.

Demeter would have known these teachings.
And Persephone, as her daughter, would have carried them in her blood.

Persephone’s descent mirrors the Magdalene path:

  • the journey into the shadow

  • the reclamation of the body

  • the wisdom of cycles

  • the honoring of emotion as initiation

  • the remembering that rebirth follows every surrender

Her story is not simply about seasons returning.
It is about women returning to themselves.

Here, you get to show up in the exact moment you’re in — not the moment you think you should be in.

Your voice belongs here.
Your experiences belong here.
Your process belongs here.

This space is for release.
